Beautiful and Colorful Rakhis get available in the market like 20 days before the festival. People go into the shopping mood along with new clothes. Even in this festival, the sweet shops begin their preparations in advance for the Rakhi festival demand. Many gift shops are there that offer special packages and Rakhi discounts. For those sisters and brothers who cannot meet due to the distances, it is the day for remembering the long-gone time. Sisters that cannot meet their brothers send Rakhi by post. Nothing can stop the overflowing emotions of sisters on this day. It is also accustomed for the brothers to send Rakhi gifts for their sisters.


Traditional Way of Celebrating Rakhi India


As per the Rakhi tradition, the members of the family get ready for the Rakhi rituals early. At first, the contributions are made to the family idols. The sisters then prepare the puja thali. It contains the kumkum powder, Rakhi threads, Diya which is a metal lamp or earthen, sweets, and incense sticks (agarbattis). Sisters then perform an aarti of their brothers with the puja thali and then ties the Rakhi. Then she puts the Tilak or kumkum powder on the forehead of their brothers and offers sweets. When performing the ritual, sisters prays for their brother's well being and brothers bless the sisters and promises to protect them from the troubles of the world. The Brothers then gift something to sisters as the token of his affection and love.

Rakhi festival is one of the auspicious occasions that celebrates in all the parts of India, in various names and forms:
• Rakhi Purnima: Rakhi Purnima is celebrated in the northwest and north India with a lot of joy and excitement joy.
• Upakarman or Avani Avittam: This Raksha Bandhan’s form is celebrated in the southern part of India like Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and it is an important time for the Brahmin community. This day is also known as Upakarman. The Hindus wear the new holy thread on this day. Changing of the threads symbolizes that the Brahmins are getting liberate of all the sins and making a fresh beginning.
This festival is celebrated as a symbol of love, care, brotherhood and vows between brothers and sisters.
